Placing a Request: three easy steps!
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a way for current Capella University learners, faculty, and staff to access materials that are not in the Capella University Library.
You can use Interlibrary Loan to request:
Borrowers are limited to 25 requests per quarter.
Our Interlibrary Loan Policy covers restrictions on requesting textbooks and media, as well as other important information such as overdue fines.
For further information or to request an Interlibrary Loan, visit our ILL Information page.
To submit an Interlibrary Loan request for a book, article, or book chapter, complete the following steps:
Step 1: Check Journal and Book Locator.
Use Journal and Book Locator to determine whether the item you want is already available in our library.
Remember to search for the Journal title or the book title, NOT the article title!
Review our guide for tips in using Journal and Book Locator.
Step 2: Fill out an Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
The interlibrary loan request form is located on our Interlibrary Loan Information page.
You can also use the ILL information page to get answers to frequently asked questions and read our complete ILL policy.
Step 3: Wait for your item to arrive!
Articles - usually take 3-5 business days to arrive. When your article is ready, you will receive an email from Capella Interlibrary Loan with a link to a database that allows you to download a PDF file of the article.
Books - usually take 7-10 business days to arrive. If we are able to add your requested book to our digital collection, you will receive an email with instructions to retrieve the book.
If we can borrow a hard copy book via our partner institutions, InfoNOW or University of Michigan ILL, you will receive a copy by mail.
Please pay close attention to all paperwork included with your item for return instructions and due dates. If you return the book late, you may be charged an overdue fine.
